Andi educated the students about local pollinators, like native bees and Monarch butterflies, and the importance of native plants for wildlife.

Our Education & Outreach Director, Andi Pupke, designed a pollinator garden for Radcliffe Creek School in Chestertown, MD. Radcliffe students, under Pupke’s guidance, planted the garden as part of the school’s Earth Day celebration and in furtherance of its “No Child Left Inside Initiative”. The gardens will be used for cross-curricular activities during the school year.

Challenges

Native pollinator populations have been in decline due to habitat loss, insecticide use, non-native plants, and many other contributing factors.

Solution

A pollinator garden is designed to attract and support pollinating insects and animals, such as bees, butterflies, moths, and hummingbirds. By providing pollinators with essential food, shelter, and water, these beautiful gardens help sustain local biodiversity.
